The installations: united colours, my strange world o fculture and talking about ART POSITION are wall installations consisting of 20-60 painted canvases, -machine-readable images. They each show a multi – data code with a link to a video.

Via mobile phone these multi – data codes can be read by the viewer and so link up to a short video that exists in the world wide web. The videos will be shown on the viewers mobile phones and digital tablets.

Installation wall: united colours

The videos in the installation are computer-generated informal painting The films . behind the installation : United colors available , have emerged in a similar way as the informal painting . However, takes the place of the media change from the computer screen to the big screen , here the multiplication of subjective selection : The films are overlapping several pixelated films , which are in turn backed by duplication of distorted or undistorted music . Installation wall: my strange world of culture

The videos in my strange world of culture show typical cult acts from all over the world : from football to Voodoo, of Vespers in the monastery to the Chinese Opera: Religious rites, but also surfercult, sport and hunting scenes. Video fragments from Japan, Tibet, America, Africa and Europe. Obviously, the juxtaposition of different stages, involuntary relationships, disturbing similarities but not least, the inaccessibility of enthusiasm and membership is a prerequisite of any cult act. My strange world of culture is a personal rapprochement with culture and cult, but especially with the fundamental alienation, that we are mere spectators even though we may seem to be part of it – never escaping.

Is art is in crisis? Does the end of history necessarily mean the end of art ? Is it still possible to talk about art together or just side by side?

Here, only a leap in the dark will help: The project talking about ART POSITION presents an Open Call, a collection of artists of different nations with different oppinions on art, in the form of interviews and documentary videos. The projekt aims to explore the image which people around the world have of art, – how they see it – and how they deal with art and artists. In each video a representative of the art world or someone connected to it speaks for 2 minutes on art.

The installation is not a mere repetition of what is said. It interprets, selects, probes and censores. It is not solely controlled by the artist who makes the videos – but also by the viewer, who plays an active roll – they decide which of the painted codes to activate on their mobile phones.

Richwiens conception of art is in the tradition of Joseph Beuys – Art occurs in your head, it is invented, drafted, created – by being conceptualized and communicated. Talking about ART POSITION is an exploratory, comparative look at art and the art world – described by art. Besides the possibility on having very different perspectives on art come into play, talking about ART POSITION also reflects on its own contiual censorship – eaven if that is only due to the general lack of time.
